Alberta Farm Safety

Through 7 distinct "Safety Smarts" presentations, rural children from kindergarten through grade six are taught to recognize and react safely to a wide variety of potential farm hazards. Age appropriate, hands-on, interactive farm safety messages are taught to individual classes of rural students; with each grades presentation having a unique focus.

"Safety Smarts" presentations are offered to ALL schools in rural Alberta

In response to a recently released 20 year study of agriculture-related injuries and fatalities in Alberta, we have updated the focus of many "Safety Smarts" presentations to ensure that the safety concepts we teach respond to the real risks being encountered by rural children. The majority of non-work related fatalities on Alberta farms involve children and youth (0-14 years).

RES classes are each given a 45 minute safety presentation.

Each month RES will be focusing on  Character Education Program, “Seven Sacred Teachings.” This is part of the provincial mandate to begin including more FNMI content into AB Education.

The Seven Sacred Teachings are the traits of:   Respect, Love, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility & Truth.

The traditional concepts of respect and sharing that form the foundation of the Aboriginal way of life are built around the seven natural laws, or sacred teachings. Each teaching honors one of the basic virtues in intrinsic to a full and healthy life.

Each law is embodied by an animal to underscore the point that all actions and decisions made by man are manifest on a physical plain. The animal world taught man how to live close to the earth, and the connection that has been established between the animal world and that of man has instilled a respect for all life in those who follow the traditional Aboriginal way.

Kindergarten Open House for 2020/2021
Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Rimbey Elementary School is hosting an Open House for all eligible kindergarten students on Friday, March 13th - 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Rimbey Elementary School would like to invite all children, who will be 5 years old by December 31, 2020, and their parents, to a Kindergarten Open House in preparation for the 2020 - 2021 school year.  WCPS also offers early learning programming for children ages 3 and 4 years old with priority placement for children with identified learning needs - the link is below.  Please register your child online for kindergarten prior to the Open House (see link below - be sure to select correct school year). On line registration for both programs  available January 6, 2020. Wolf Creek School Division’s student registration forms will only be available online.  Please note that only a child's legal Parent/Guardian, with whom the student resides,  is able to complete and submit the registration application.  Application approved once all proper documentation has been uploaded with application.

Parents/Guardians and our future kindergarten students are welcome on: Friday, March 13th,  anytime between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, to enjoy some of the activities that will be planned to help you begin a fun, first year of school! Come and meet our current kindergarten teacher see our kindergarten classroom, and take a tour of the school. Please note that kindergarten registrations  may not receive requested Program day choice. Program day choices dependent on total kindergarten registrations, not on parent choice necessarily.

Please note that the completed online registration forms must be accompanied by a copy of an original birth certificate, as proof of birth date/citizenship.  You are required to upload a copy of the birth certificate, proof of citizenship and all custody or guardianship orders and attach to your online registration form prior to submitting to the School.   Students are not considered “registered” or placed on a class list until proof of birth date/citizenship and any other required documentation is produced and uploaded with online application.  We ask that parents register prior to our KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE. This assists us with determining how many kindergarten classes are required for the upcoming year. Program day choices dependent on total kindergarten registrations, not on parent choice necessarily.

Currently enrolled kindergarten students do not attend school on March 13th; allowing our kindergarten teacher to host the Open House.

Make sure you select the correct year "2020-2021"

Science in Motion Residency

On April 15th and 16th RES classes  will be participating in a one hour, hands on,  program delivered by a scientist visiting from TELUS World of Science Edmonton with the “Science in Motion” program.

“Science in Motion” is a TELUS World of Science - Edmonton exclusive School Program.  It brings exciting science presentations to rural communities. Through experiments, demonstrations and hands-on activities, they make science fun, dynamic and easy to understand. Science in Motion programs are a valuable resource because it meets learner objectives set out by the Alberta Science Curriculum making them a valuable resource for schools.”

These presentations are made possible through the supplemental fee that each student pays—without this fee it would not be possible to host these events at our school.
